Norma Faber

Newton - Norma (Woodward) Faber, age 97, formerly a long-time resident of Wantage, peacefully went to heaven on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at her home in Newton while surrounded by her loved ones. Born on September 26, 1923 in Paterson to the late Clifford H. Woodward, Sr. and Clara (Hoek) Woodward, Norma lived in Bergen County before moving to Sussex County 50 years ago. She met her husband, Cornelius “Neal” Faber at the age of 17, while roller skating at the Paterson Recreational Center. Neal asked her for the last skate and they instantly became more than acquaintances. When Neal went into the United States Navy during World War II, they would write letters back and forth while he was at boot camp. They were married on October 20, 1943 in Paterson. Norma was a long-time member of the Sussex United Methodist Church. She belonged to the Ladies Group at church and was active in the rummage sales and the church’s Bible Study. She and her husband were owners of the Hampton Roller Rink in Newton, bringing the joy of roller skating to Sussex County. Norma was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Norma was predeceased by her three brothers, William, Clifford, and Lester Woodward and a great grandchild. Norma is survived by her devoted husband of 77 years, Cornelius “Neal” Faber; her daughter, Nancy Kowar and her husband Frank; her son, Roger “Skip” Faber and his wife Mary Rose “Mimi;” her son, Neal Faber and his wife Kerry; her daughter, Cindy Faber; and her son, Roy Faber and his wife Carmen; twelve adoring grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren with one great grandchild on the way; two great-great grandchildren with one great-great grandchild on the way; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 1, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex. Interment to immediately follow at Frankford Plains Cemetery, Plains Road, Augusta. Friends may pay their respects to the family one hour prior to the service on Monday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Due to New Jersey government health restrictions, attendees will be limited and are required to wear face masks at all times and practice proper social distancing.
