Helen G. DeAngelo

Ogdensburg- Helen G. DeAngelo, 90, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Newton Medical Center. Born and raised in West Paterson to the late James and Mabel (Braen) Lawther, she has been a resident of Ogdensburg for the past 59 years, where she raised her family with her late husband., Richard. Mrs. DeAngelo had been employed as a contract specialist at Picatinny Arsenal for many years before her retirement. She was a former Sunday School teacher at the West Paterson United Methodist Church. Mrs. DeAngelo was a member of the Ogdensburg First Aid Squad, coached cheerleading for the Franklin Little Rams, was involved in the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, and was a member and past president of the Franklin American Legion Post 132 Ladies Auxiliary and county president of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed watching animals; especially squirrels and chipmunks. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Richard on June 15, 2012. Mrs. DeAngelo is survived by her children, Robin Downs and her husband David, Kim Swank and her husband Chris, Richard DeAngelo and his wife Sandra, and Dawn DeAngelo; her grandchildren, Dee-Jae Frayko and her husband Chris, Kelly O’Bryan and her husband Danny, Karen VanOrden and her husband David, Nicole Bergman and her husband Kyle, Hope Ginsberg, Brianna DeAngelo, Ryan Hanshaw and his wife Danielle, and Matthew Hanshaw and his wife Courtney; her great grandchildren, Zeek and Wyatt Frayko, Destiny and Kameron VanOrden, Ashley, Alexis, Brook, and Bristol Willard, Ava Bergman, Pasley, Colton and Hailey Hanshaw, Isla, Matthew, Jr., and Noah Hanshaw, and Jayden, Justin, and Everleigh DeAngelo; and her great great grandchildren, Atreus and Khalea. Friends are invited to join the family on Sunday, January 18, 2026 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for a celebration of Helen’s life at the Hamburg Fire Department, 16 Wallkill Avenue, Hamburg.
