Rose M. Castiglia

October 24, 1936 - January 20, 2022

Sparta - Rose Marie Castiglia, 85, of Sparta, NJ, passed into eternal rest with family by her side Thursday, January 20, 2022, succumbing to metastatic breast cancer. Those who knew her best will remember her favorite pastime as spending time around the table sharing stories, enjoying good food, and laughing together. Rose was born October 24, 1936, to the late Oliver and Helen Ballenger in Rochester, Indiana. She moved to Paterson, NJ, where she earned her living by factory work and cosmetic sales. Rose married Guy Castiglia on April 18, 1970. The couple resided in Pompton Lakes and then North Bergen before settling in Parsippany where they raised their daughter and spent 26 years. During that time, she also worked for A-1 Marking Technologies in Mt. Tabor. Rose and Guy relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1996. She returned to New Jersey in 2018. Rose was predeceased by her husband in 2003 and her sister, Alyce Bell in 2011. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Ned Seely of Wantage; two granddaughters, Casey and husband, Alec Hughes, of Sussex, and Emily Seely of Wantage; and her brother, Richard Markley of Florida. Rose is also survived by her loving in laws in Italy and the US, and several nieces and a nephew in Arizona and a nephew in Rochester, Indiana. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Highlands Bible Church, 307 Route 94, Vernon, NJ.
