Lafayette - It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Walter Albert, Jr., age 75 on Monday, September 1, 2025 at Morristown Medical Center. Born in Orange to the late Walter Albert, Sr. and Alice (Strack) Albert, Walter grew up in Bloomfield and lived in West Orange before moving to Lafayette 40 years ago. He earned a bachelors degree from Upsala University and went on to become a technical coordinator for Verizon in their data center until his retirement. He took on additional roles as an animal control officer and school bus driver. In his youth he was Eagle Scout with a passion for the outdoors and travel. This passion combined with his desire to always help others continued when he joined the Vernon Valley Ski Patrol, having taught both of his daughters to ski as young children while also protecting and helping other skiers. A true girl dad, Walter made sure both of his daughters had everything they ever wanted, sacrificing so that they could have a better life, raising them on a beautiful farm with goats, sheep, bunnies, cats and of course his beloved golden retrievers and all of the family’s many pets. Walter was also a proud Veteran who had served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He spread his kindness wherever he went, with his devotion to community service as a volunteer EMT for Lafayette Township. Walter was also a former member of the Sparta Elks and the former Samaritan Masonic Lodge No. 98 in Hardyston. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Harriet Fekter. Walter is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, JoAnne (Goralski); his two loving daughters, Jessica Bradley and her husband Erik of Mt. Olive and Jaclyn Albert of Lafayette; his two grandchildren, Madison and Harper and two grandpets Alaska and Aura. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Friday, September 5, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex. Military Honors will immediately follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Private cremation services have been held at the convenience of the family.
