Marjorie C. Veit

Wantage - Marjorie C. Veit, age 88, passed away on Monday, May 17, 2010 at Care One Nursing Home in Evesham. Born in Jersey City to the late Frank and Mary (Welch) Gregg, Mrs. Veit had graduated from Port Jervis High School in 1939 and had lived in Sussex County most of her life. She had served as the Wantage Township Court Clerk and also ran Marge and Walt's Luncheonette in Sussex with her late husband. She retired in the mid 1980's and had been employed at the former Ben Franklin Store in Sussex. Mrs. Veit was a member of St. Monica R.C. Church in Sussex and was a member of the church's former Rosary Society. She was also a member of the American Legion post #213 Auxiliary in Wantage, the Greenville Senior Citizens Club, the Sussex-Wantage over 50 Club, Sussex-Wantage Woman's Club, member Wantage Democratic Club and a member of the Neversink Valley Area Museum. Mrs. Veit was predeceased by her husband, Walter A. Veit in 1997. She is survived by her four sons, Albert A. of San Paulo, Brazil, Walter F. and his wife Diane(Kuser) of Medford, Daniel G. and his wife Linda(Stair) of Colesville, and Michael C. and companion Dinah Mullingan of Mystic, CT; her sister-in-laws, Nadine Gregg of Phoenix, Arizona; Margaret Gierie of Springvale, Maine, her nephew, Daniel Gregg of Phoenix, Arizona; her grandchildren, Alexander, Brian Walter, Kevin, Daniel, Jr., Michael(Mick), Katie and her husband Dennis Staples; Melissa, Megan and her husband Eric Corcel, her two great grandchildren; her close friends, Anne Jackson of Londonderry, NH and Marie Savage of Totowa; and her legion and church family. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 21, 2010 from the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23) Sussex. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Monica R.C. Church, 33 Unionville Ave., Sussex at 10 a.m... Interment Clove Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Thursday, May 20, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m..
